Founded by Earle and Dorothy Runnion in 1975, Runnion Equipment Company sells, services and rents new and used truck mounted cranes and related
equipment in northern Illinois , northwest Indiana and Southeast Wisconsin. We maintain a strong nationwide presence by routinely buying and selling equipment across North America and from time-to-time, overseas. Don't be surprised to see the Runnion logo running proud on cranes working in Alaska, Hawaii, the British West Indies, or anywhere in between. |

Truck Mounted Cranes |

Our primary product is the truck mounted crane with an emphasis on the National Crane product line. National Crane is the number one manufacturer of truck mounted cranes, or “boom trucks” in the United States . Earle Runnion began selling National Cranes in 1963 when National was just getting started and it was the beginning of a long standing, mutually beneficial relationship. Since those early days, Runnion Equipment Company has continued to be a regular on the list of National's named “TOP 10” dealers under the direction of Earle's son Patrick. |

Interestingly, although Runnion Equipment Company was begun in 1975 it got a head start by inheriting a 27-year history from its founder, Earle Runnion. Earle had already spent 27 years in the heavy equipment business when he formed his dealership, then named National Construction Equipment Company, in 1974. In August of 1975, he purchased the business of Talbert Equipment Company (trailers) and combined the two in order to create Runnion Equipment Company at its current location in Lyons, Illinois. |

Earle as President and Dorothy as Corporate Secretary and Controller continued to build the business as an authorized center for sales, parts and service for several quality manufacturers through the years such as Talbert Trailer, American Backhoe, Ferguson Rollers, and Schramm Air Compressors. In September of 1975 Earle's son-in-law Mike Burns joined the sales staff. Pat Runnion, Earle's son formally joined the firm in May of 1980 after graduating from college and spending the better part of his formative years getting a first hand look at the business from the bottom up!

In 1993, Earle and Dorothy took a well deserved retirement from the day-to-day operation of the company, handing the reins over to Pat as President and Mike as Vice President and Sales Manager. Under the direction of Pat and Mike, the firm continued to enjoy success by focusing in on the new and used boom-truck market. They concentrated their efforts on the National Crane product line and added related equipment such as a wide range of crane attachments, Trail King Trailers and towable roof top conveyors-all with an eye towards maximizing the versatility and usefulness of the boom truck line. |

In 2003, it was Mike Burns' turn to take a step back from the day-to-day management of the company leaving Patrick the task of building a management team to help him continue the winning ways of Runnion Equipment Company.
As a member of the Runnion Equipment Company Team, our employees inherit the respect of customers, fellow dealers across the country and the ever present competition as well.
